On September 20, unknown hackers hacked the Twitter account of the Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX and placed fake XRP ads with phishing links in it.

Attackers retweet the official messages of Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse to mislead subscribers of the exchange. They also distribute links under various tweets on cryptocurrency topics.

Currently, over 230,000 people have subscribed to CoinDCX’s main Twitter account.

CoinDCX customer support has notified users about the compromised account. Work continues to restore the account.

Recall that last week, on the eve of the launch of The Merge, a wave of scams appeared on Twitter on behalf of Vitalik Buterin, who allegedly advertised fraudulent Ethereum giveaways.
