Arsenal has completed the signing of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga on a long-term contract.
The fee, however, is believed to be around £17.2m for Belgium under 21 international.
Lokonga, 21, joined Anderlecht at the age of 15, making his first-team debut in December 2017, and went on to make 78 appearances, scoring three goals.
“Albert is an intelligent player who has shown great maturity,” said Arsenal chief executive Mikel Arteta.
“Vincent Kompany and his team-mates are training him well in Anderlecht. I know Vincent very well that he talks a lot about Albert and the positive impact he has had at Anderlecht in recent times.
“We are confident that Albert is ready for the next level in his development and we look forward to welcoming a newcomer to our team with his degree and presence.”
Arsenal chief technology officer Edu added: “There is a lot of interest in Albert and it’s a big focus.
“It will bring us strength and depth in the middle.”
The midfielder, who will wear number 23 and has Sambi in his shirt, has played seven times for Belgium under-21s, scoring two goals.
Lokonga will join his new team if he completes the current rules for UK immigrants.
